Penny Stocks To Buy OTCBB Eisriesenwelt ice caves
The Eisriesenwelt is a vast underground series of caves with some 42 km
(26 miles) of tunnels and chambers. The caverns near the entrance are
lined with ice that reaches a thickness of 20 meters (65 feet). Smooth
walls, stalactites, stalagmites, domes, frozen waterfalls, and other
ice formations have shaped a crystalline world that deserves a 5-star
rating on any list of natural tourist attractions.
The caves were officially discovered in 1879 by Anton Posselt, but they
were ignored by most scientists and the public until Alexander von
Mörk--a noted speleologist of the Salzburg region--explored the
caverns in 1912. Von Mörk died in World War I, and his ashes were
later interred in the Mörk-Dom, or "Mörk's Cathedral," a chamber of
ice that rises 35m (115 ft) above the cave floor...
Booking Hotel Rooms in Europe
Hotels, like any other commodity, are subject to the rules of supply and
demand. The more flexible you are about where to stay (and when to stay),
the more money you can expect to save...
You might be able to match such rates by showing up at the last minute
and negotiating your own price for a vacant room, but you can't count on
doing so--and you might not find a room at all.
Trip to Brussels
My first trip to London was supposed to last two months. Then I was asked to
stay an extra month. Then I was asked if I would go to Brussels for
six weeks to help a customer. When that finished I decided to stop back
in London before heading out to California. (This was all part of a
transfer and I was anxious to actually unpack my boxes and get on with
life.) But as long as I would be in London, how would I like to help out
for a couple of weeks?
Those two weeks turned into two more months, at which point I was asked
to go back to Brussels for two more months. So my two month trip turned
into eight and a half. (By now I'm sure you're all in tears over my plight.)
All of which is an introduction to a few pictures I took while I was
there. I don't remember where they were taken or why they seemed worth
capturing. But then it was such a long time ago...
Travel to Eastern Europe 1994
For 23 days I traveled alone in Eastern Europe via train September
26-October 18, 1994 -- two overnight trains and 14 other trains in the
Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and passing through Hungary
and Yugoslavia. I know not one word of any language but English.
Here's how it went...
Trains: Trains were on time, windows and toilets were dirty, trains were
full of neat college kids in Slovakia
going back to school and then going home for the weekend. Sleeper from
Sofia to Bucharest cost $15 (in addition to Bulgarian rail pass cost)
In overnight trains, car official takes your passport and keeps it
with him until you are ready to get off, then he returns it.
Train views were fabulous especially in Slovakia where the mountains
provided the most exquisite background for the setting sun.
Saw farmers doing final harvesting -- backbreaking work done by hand.
Copenhagen on a budget
Budget travel doesn't have to mean cramped journeys on no frills flights.
Travelling as a foot passenger on a ferry is an affordable alternative,
and although it takes more time, sailing slows the mind to a pace where
you truly begin to anticipate your destination.
At the Harwich ferry terminal, I immediately noticed the change of pace.
There was none of the clamour of an overcrowded airport. I boarded with
no more than 20 fellow foot passengers; no queues and no stress...
Bucharest Romania Guides
The Athénée Palace Hilton (Str Episcopiei 1-3, +303 37 77, hilton.com)
and the Inter-Continental (B-dul Nicolae Balcescu 2-4, +310 20 20,
intercontinental.com) are both familiar landmarks in Bucharest and are
both first-rate hotels. The Hilton has the wonderfully atmospheric
English Bar, made famous by Olivia Manning's Balkan Trilogy, while the
Inter-Continental provided foreign journalists with a grandstand view of
the last hours of Ceausescu's reign in 1989. Neither hotel is cheap;
doubles supposedly start at around £185, but prices are invariably
negotiable by phone or fax prior to arrival. (Incidentally, English
newspapers are usually available at the Hilton from 4pm on day of publication.)...
A Walking Tour of London
I often find visitors only venture into the City to see the Tower and
St Paul's, yet it is my favorite part of London. I take all of my guests
along this route, as it provides a good feel for the "City" (the financial
centre and oldest part of London) with a taste of the Docklands.
The City is the oldest part of London. It was founded by the Romans
and was the entirety of London until the great fire of 1666. After
the fire people spread westwards (hence what many people would think
is central London is called the West End), although the City remains
the business and financial centre. Nearly 20% of the nation's GDP is
earned in the City, but it has almost no residential population
(the little there is in the Barbican Centre). This means that it
is virtually deserted evenings and weekends and that this walking tour
is best done on a weekday.
A tour of the City takes a good half day, especially if you visit
all the attractions along the way. It's good to do in the morning
and then spend the afternoon at the Tower.

Rome travel destination
OUR first family trip to Italy was a big success. We had gone to Venice, where the sunny
disposition of our son, Mitchell, charmed all we met. Mitchell sat
patiently through long days and leisurely meals. We never felt
claustrophobic in our little hotel room. Of course, he was 7 months old...
A Web search led us first to a service that wanted a third of the rental
fee wired to a bank in Luxembourg, with the rest to be paid in cash upon
arrival, a scenario about which we had more than a few doubts. We looked
further, and found a California-based rental agency, Rentvillas.com.
We were assigned a ''travel consultant'' named Amy who sent cheerful
and helpful e-mail messages. When we had narrowed our choice down to
two one-bedrooms by looking at photos on the Web site, she informed
us that one of them got a musty smell when it rained. So we went with
Cesare (all the apartments from all the services have a name, like pets),
a few blocks west of the Piazza Navona. It would cost $2,484 for nine
nights. As it was just a month away, we had to pay the whole amount -- but
it was by credit card.
